Damian, an orphan who discovered his benefactor was actually his estranged father, enlists in a foreign war to escape his family’s shadow. In the hollow desolation of the trenches, he finds a reason to live through a chance correspondence with a woman named Lintray. Her letters become his only sanctuary, turning a faceless stranger into his sole motivation to survive.
After an injury forces his discharge, Damian travels to find her, only to find a charred ruin. The neighbors claim the house burned down and that Lintray who was a mere maid not a lady, perished in the flames.
Refusing to believe she is gone, Damian follows a trail of conflicting stories to the capital, Nihilo. Was the woman he loved a lie, or is she still out there waiting? He heads into the heart of the city to find the truth behind the letters and finally deliver the words he left unsaid.
